Computers and Structures, Inc. (CSI) is pleased to announce the availability of CSiXRevit 2018 / 2019, is a plugin for Autodesk Revit that enables bi-directional data transfer to CSI Software products: SAP2000, ETABS and SAFE.
– CSiXRevit 2019 supports data exchange between Autodesk Revit 2019 and either ETABS (15.0.0 and later), SAP2000 (17.2.0 and later), and SAFE (14.0.0 and later).
The following changes have been made from CSiXRevit 2018.0 to 2019.0:
204063 An incident was resolved where the *.EXR file was written but had incomplete information and could not be imported into ETABS when the Revit project included column elements which: (1) did not have any structural material parameter assigned to them and (2) were instances of an angle column family whose name was not one of the predefined names listed in the CSiXRevit manual, and also had not been mapped to one of these in the user’s CSiXRevit Family Name Mapping.txt file.
217165 An incident was resolved which affected the export of Revit framing elements with a geometric position that included a non-zero start Y offset value to ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE. CSiXRevit exported such framing elements without taking into account their start Y offset values. When this occurred, the discrepancy between the Revit project and the ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE model was visually obvious and all analysis results were consistent with the model. This affected all versions of CSiXRevit capable of exporting framing element geometric position start and end offsets. The start and end Z offset values, and the end Y offset values, of Revit framing elements were all otherwise exported correctly.
218387 An incident was resolved where a Revit project could not be exported at all to ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE because the CSiXRevit commands which export and update Revit projects had been designed to run in read-only mode and the Autodesk supplied REX API commands called to assist with the export were attempting to modify the project. This occurred very rarely. Note that the active Revit project must now be open with full access rights when the Export to create a new ETABS, SAP2000 or SAFE model and Export to update a ETABS, SAP2000 or SAFE commands are run.
217477 The export of Revit frame elements with rigid links originating near, instead of precisely at, the end nodes of their Revit analytical models has been enhanced. In previous releases of CSiXRevit, such frame elements were imported into ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE as line objects with joint locations and joint offsets that all matched the locations of the Revit rigid links. The elements are now imported as line objects with joint locations that match the locations of their Revit analytical model end nodes, and the joint offsets are adjusted so that they extend from the line object end nodes to the offset ends of the Revit rigid links.
219634 CSiXRevit 2019 supports data exchange between Revit 2019 and either ETABS (15.0.0 and later), SAP2000 (17.2.0 and later), and SAFE (14.0.0 and later).
– CSiXRevit 2018 supports data exchange between Revit Structure 2018 and either ETABS (15.0.0 and later), SAP2000 (17.2.0 and later), and SAFE (14.0.0 and later).
The following changes have been made from CSiXRevit 2017.0 to 2018.0:
91964 The CSiXRevit manual has been updated to add further clarification regarding column cardinal points not being exported from ETABS and SAP2000 to Revit due to Revit not supporting the concept of cardinal points on columns.
95947 An incident was resolved where curved grid lines with a clockwise orientation exported from ETABS and SAFE were imported into Revit with a counter-clockwise orientation. This affected all versions of CSiXRevit. Curved grid lines are now imported into Revit with their original orientation.
98814 An incident was resolved which affected repeated round-tripping of Revit projects to and from ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE when some of the Revit elements were copied with the Copy command. If a Revit project was exported to ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE and then brought back into Revit, and some of the originally exported Revit elements were then copied in Revit, two problems could possibly occur: (1) If the project was subsequently re-exported to ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE, the objects corresponding to the originally exported Revit elements would move to the locations and would be assigned the section properties and releases of the copied Revit elements (2) If the ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE model was brought back one more time into Revit, the copied elements would move back to the locations of the original elements and would be assigned the same section properties and releases. This occurred because, when it brings a model back into Revit, CSiXRevit stores the original Revit element GUID identifiers of their ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE counter-parts, and these GUID’s would be duplicated when the elements were copied. The same two problems would occur if the project was initially created by importing from ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE, and some of the imported elements were then copied in Revit. This affected all versions of CSiXRevit. When it occurred, the ETABS, SAP2000, or SAFE agreed with the model and the log file reported the changes made to the Revit project. This no longer occurs because CSiXRevit ties the object GUID’s it assigns to Revit elements to their Revit unique ids and ignores the duplicate GUID’s it finds on copied elements.
99491 An incident was resolved which affected the import of ETABS models into Revit when it was performed several times on different computers. When an ETABS model was imported into Revit on a given computer and the resulting Revit project file was copied to another computer, but the Revit shared parameter file the project referred to was not copied, the imported beam elements would acquire a duplicate pair of shared parameters for the beam end reactions, showing possibly different reaction values when the ETABS model was imported again. This affected all versions of CSiXRevit. The Revit shared parameters CSiXRevit creates for beam reactions are now assigned GUIDs, and this guarantees they are not duplicated when the above sequence of events happens.
99941 The CSiXRevit manual has been updated to add further clarification regarding the import of Revit walls into SAP2000. All planar wall geometries are now imported into SAP2000. However, non-planar walls with more than four sides are still not imported.
201895 CSiXRevit 2018 supports data exchange between Revit Structure 2018 and either ETABS (15.0.0 and later), SAP2000 (17.2.0 and later), and SAFE (v14.0.0 and later).
About CSiXRevit. CSiXRevit , a CSI developed plugin for Autodesk Revit Structure, provides a bi-directional link between SAP2000, ETABS, and/or SAFE and Autodesk Revit Structure.
Four (4) options are available to interchange data:
– from Revit Structure to create a new CSI model
– from Revit Structure to update an existing CSI model
– from CSI software to create a new Revit Structure project
– from CSI software to update an existing Revit Structure project
These options provide for true round-tripping of data between CSI software and Autodesk Revit Structure.
